European Research Council (ERC) ǀ ERC Starting Grant Call 2023
Online Event (via Zoom) ǀ Thursday, 21 July 2022 ǀ 10:00 (s.t.) – ca. 11:30 h

On 21 July 2022, the EU Office of the University of Göttingen will offer an online event on the ERC Starting Grant Call 2023 (tentative deadline: 25.10.2022). First, the EU Office will give a short presentation on the ERC Starting Grants. An ERC Grantee will be invited to the event in order to talk about own experiences and to provide hints for the application procedure. Finally, there will be enough time for a Q&A session. The event will be held in English.

The ERC’s mission is to promote the highest quality research in Europe by offering funding schemes that are “investigator-driven” or “bottom-up”. ERC projects allow researchers a great degree of flexibility and substantial funding to pursue new directions in all fields of research. In an open competition ERC grants are awarded to projects headed by starting to established researchers, irrespective of their origins. The sole criterion is scientific excellence of the project and the researcher.

ERC Starting Grants (ERC StG) fund Principal Investigators (PIs, 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD) who already produced excellent supervised work and are ready to work independently showing potential to be a research leader. ERC StG may be awarded up to 1.5 million Euro for a period of five years. However, an additional 1 million Euro can be made available to cover eligible start-up costs. A two-step evaluation procedure is applied.

A registration for the event is necessary. Please register at the latest by Wednesday, 20 July 2022, via registration website of the EU Office.
