The ability to deal with conflicts is a key component of professional conduct and an important factor for personal and professional success. The workshop enables the participants to experience conflict as agent of innovation, professional and personal development.

GAUSS Career Workshop: "Explore the Unknown - The Company World", Jan 20-21, 2020

We are happy to announce our first GAUSS Career Service workshop in 2020 - “Exploring the Unknown – The Company World” by Dr. Gaby Schilling.

This workshop is for postdoctoral scientist and late-stage PhD students who are currently applying or planning to apply for a position in industry. Getting to know different departments and their functions in a company and reflect about whether related jobs could be a good fit for your interests and profile are the goals of this workshop.

The University of Göttingen is offering a mentoring program for female doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at Göttingen Campus, designed to accompany young female researchers through this phase of their development.

Funding Opportunities and Prizes

DFG Postdoc Funding - the Walter Benjamin Program

In July 2019 the DFG has launched a new Postdoc Funding Scheme – the Walter Benjamin Program enabling researchers in the postdoctoral training phase to independently conduct their own research project at a location of their choice for 2 years. The project can be carried out at a research institution in Germany or abroad, with the host institution providing support for the project. Applications can be submitted at any time.

Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators (deadline: Jan 15, 2020)

The Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators was first established in 1995. It acknowledges outstanding contributions to biomedical research in Europe based on methods of molecular biology, including novel analytical concepts. ERC Consolidator Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they may still be consolidating their own independent research team or program. Deutsche Krebshilfe Max-Eder Junior Group for 4 yrs (deadline: Feb 11, 2020)

The next call for the Max-Eder Junior Research Group by the Deutsche Krebshilfe is open until Feb 11, 2020.

Aiming at highly qualified young oncologists (physicians during or after the specialist training as well as scientists with an explicit clinic-oriented orientation of the project), who are not older than 35 years on application, this funding scheme is supporting them over a period of 4(+3) years in establishing their own independent working group and further develop their scientific career.

Deutsche Krebshilfe Mildred-Scheel-Postdoc Program for max. 2 yrs (deadline: Feb 11, 2020)

The next call for the Mildred-Scheel-Postdoc Program by the Deutsche Krebshilfe is open until Feb 11, 2020.This postdoctoral funding scheme is providing young doctors and natural scientists the opportunity to carry out projects in clinically oriented oncological basic research or clinical cancer research at renowned institutions abroad.

Bernd Rendel Prize for junior researchers in Geosciences (deadline: Feb 15, 2020)

Since 2002 the DFG has annually awarded the Bernd Rendel Prize to early career geoscientists who do not hold a doctorate.
