We are happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Service online workshop “How to plan and write a competitive research proposal” by Dr. Thomas Koch. This workshop is intended for postdoctoral researchers and late-stage PhD students who are new to the process of applying for a scientific research grant. 3rd Call: "Career promotion of female scientists" (apply by 30 Oct 2023)

On 15 September 2023, the third call of the programme “Career promotion of female scientists" will start. The programme addresses individual needs of young female scientists. It supports projects or achievements that significantly improve their chances of reaching the next career level. Applications can be made for financial and time resources to enable female scientists to perform and expand the (additional) services required for a career in science, e.g. travel for field and archive research, grants for editing, proofreading and transcriptions, financing of childcare during parental leave in order to gain time for further scientific qualification etc. Read more...

DFG Research Career Series "Prospects" (Two events in September 2023 - in English)

The DFG is offering a variety of funding opportunities for all career stages between doctorate and professorship. Daimler Benz Postdoctoral Scholarships for 2 yrs (Deadline: 1 Oct 2023)

Every year, the Daimler and Benz Foundation awards twelve scholarships (two of them in cooperation with the Reinhard Frank-Foundation) to exceptional postdoctoral researchers, junior professors, and heads of junior research groups. to selected postdoc researchers, junior professors, and heads of junior research groups. Their goal is to support the autonomy and creativity of the next generation of academics and to help committed researchers as they begin their postdoctoral academic careers. ERC Starting Grant (apply by 24 Oct 2023)

ERC Starting Grants (up to 5 years and € 1.5 million) are designed to fund Principal Investigators (PIs) who already produced excellent supervised work and are ready to work independently showing potential to be a research leader. Researchers of any nationality with 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD (Extensions are possible under certain circumstances — see the latest ERC Work Programme), a scientific track record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal. Research must be conducted in a public or private research organisation (known as a Host Institution/HI). The Azrieli International Postdoctoral Fellowships offer generous funding and personalized support to outstanding scientists and scholars in any academic discipline. Leading Israeli universities, renowned centers of science, scholarship and innovation, provide Azrieli Fellows with a great academic experience. Funding support for women in science with children - apply to the Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Foundation (deadline 30 Nov 2023)

The Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard (CNV) Foundation is aiming for the advancement of science and to facilitate the progress of highly qualified women with children. Excellent graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are supported by providing them with funds to be used for additional childcare and domestic help (1 year, monthly 400 €). The Foundation intends this contribution to enable young mothers to gain greater flexibility and time for their scientific work and thereby to contribute to advance more highly qualified women in Germany's leading scientific research.
