Alzheimer Research Initiative: Available funding opportunities

The „Alzheimer Forschung Initiative e.V.“ (AFI) is supporting outstanding scientists with a research focus on the Alzheimer disease who are based at a German university or research institution. Different funding schemes are available as for example project and standard grants (2-3 years and up to max. €120.000), international training grants (up to €5.000) and travel grants (up to €1.000).

Pilot Grants & Standard Grants

Junior group leaders and established/senior scientists can apply for up to €120.000 for a maximum of 3 years. Projects with international partners can be funded for up to €100.000 for max. 2 years and applications can be submitted to either the AFI or their international partners (France: Fondation Vaincre Alzheimer; Netherlands: Alzheimer Nederland).

Pilot projects are in particular for junior scientists (max 6 years postdoc experience), who can apply for up to €40.000 for a maximum of 2 years.

Application deadline for both – pilot and standard grants – is the 5 March 2018.

 

International Training Grants

To develop and foster international scientific networks postdocs and PhD students actively engaged in the field of Alzheimer research can apply for a training grant to join an international institution for 1-3 months (up to €5.000). Applications can be submitted throughout the year without specific deadlines.

 

Travel Grants

Postdocs and PhD students are eligible to apply for travel grants to actively participate in conferences and scientific meetings. Up to €1.000 can be funded per application, which can be submitted throughout the year with no specific deadlines.
