GAUSS Career Impulse Session with Senior Scientist Dr. Barbara Krüger (CureVac): “From a PhD in chemistry to process development for mRNA-based therapeutics” with 17 Feb 2023, online
We are happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Impulse Sessions in the new year, this time with Dr. Barbara Krüger, Senior Scientist at CureVac.
- Date: Friday, 17 February 2023
- Time: 14:00-15:30 (appr.)
- Location: online
- Registration:To sign up please send an email to career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de.
About the speaker:
Barbara is an alumna from the IMPRS Physics of Biological and Complex Systems. She graduated in 2018 with a PhD in chemistry. During her PhD in the group of Prof. Ulf Diederichsen, she investigated the mechanism of SNARE-mediated membrane fusion by developing model peptides as SNARE protein analogues. In 2019, she moved to Glasgow, Scotland and stayed with Prof. Glenn Burley (University of Strathclyde) for a postdoc position, working on the synthesis and optimisation of gene-modulating agents intended for the treatment of mitochondria-inherited diseases. Since 2020, she has been working at CureVac SE (Tübingen, Germany) as a scientist in the process development department focussing on the purification of mRNA.
In this talk, Barbara will provide insight into her career path so far and will share her experiences on the transition from academia to industry.
About the sessions: Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
