We are happy to announce our next virtual GAUSS Career Impulse Session, this time with Dr. Ana Kutschat, Research Fellow at St. Anna Children’s Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) and the Center for Molecular Medicine (CeMM) in Vienna.
- Date: Friday, 12 May 2023
- Time: 14:00-15:30 (appr.)
- Location: online
- Registration: To sign up please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The log-in data will be sent to registered participants.
About the speaker: Ana completed her PhD on Calcium signaling dependent epigenetic reprograming upon acquired chemoresistance in pancreatic cancer in the lab of Prof. Steven Johnsen at the UMG, currently at the Robert Bosch Center for Tumor Diseases, in 2021. She then moved to the lab of Dr. Davide Seruggia at the St. Anna Children’s Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) and the Center for Molecular Medicine (CeMM) in Vienna, Austria for her postdoc. There she continues to focus on tumor epigenetics, developing new methods and investigating the risk factors associated with childhood leukemia. She was recently awarded a MSCA Postdoctoral Individual Fellowship for her work.
During this session, Ana will share her path and discuss the challenges and successes she has faced so far, including: being involved in the move of the Johnsen lab from Göttingen, receiving excellent long-distance supervision, witnessing her project unfold in a completely new and exciting direction, wrapping up her PhD during the pandemic, being the second person to join the newly established Seruggia lab, adjusting to a new working environment and being the first Postdoc in the history of CCRI to be awarded the MSCA Postdoctoral Individual Fellowship.
About the sessions: Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
