The Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) invites applications for a Departmental Scientific Coordinator. The closing date of this job advert is the 31 May 2019.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Director of the department to assist in a variety of tasks associated with the science of the department. The role will include duties such as administration of electronic lab books, coordination of biological safety, testing and ordering equipment and assisting in the production of scientific images for reviews and presentations. There is also an opportunity to assist in scientific writing of papers and press releases. The position requires a willingness to be flexible and contribute to a variety of science-related tasks dependent on priorities. The successful applicant will be encouraged to attend appropriate training courses to update and strengthen his/her skills. The working language is English, and an ability to speak German would be advantageous.
The MPIPZ is a centre of excellence in plant science in Europe. Relevant to the advertised vacancy, it has modern infrastructure in IT and relevant areas of science such as genomics and imaging, an international work force and a supportive administration department. MPIPZ has close collaborations with The University of Cologne, The Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and the Research Centre Jülich as part of CEPLAS (Cluster of Excellence in Plant Sciences).
The successful applicant will have a PhD in a science-related subject or equivalent experience. The vacancy is initially for 2 years. The position will be half-time (20 hours per week) and will be at an appropriate level on the TVÖD scale depending on experience.
