GAUSS Career Impulse Session “From handling research collaborations to managing industry projects” with Dr Moritz Hermann (Project Manager, Thermo Fisher Scientific) on 18 October 2019
The GAUSS Career Service is happy to announce the next Career Impulse Session with Project Manager in Operational Excellence Dr Moritz Hermann (Thermo Fisher Scientific): “From handling research collaborations to managing industry projects”.
Moritz will talk about how career sessions, (soft) skill courses and scientific collaborations during his PhD helped him to draft his own career path. He will offer insights about the diverse job profile of a Project Manager in Operational Excellence and on how a combination of scientific methodology, personal interests and attitude contributed to him being hired at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

About the speaker: Moritz studied Biology at the University of Göttingen. In February 2018 he concluded his PhD at the Institute for Multiple Sclerosis Research and Neuroimmunology of the University Medical Centre Göttingen. During a subsequent vocational training in project management, he joined Thermo Fisher Scientific first as an intern and later as Project Manager in Operational Excellence. He is part of a global team involved in projects revolving around process improvement, digitalisation and data analysis.
About the sessions: Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and Postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices. The sessions also offer a platform to exchange experiences among each other.
