Workshop description:
A profound basis of information is essential for postdocs on the path to professorship at a university in order to be comprehensively prepared to make the right decisions and to properly craft their academic career:
Start with an inventory regarding your previous academic achievements and take into account your individual competencies, interests and values. It is also crucial to explore formal and informal requirements in your particular field of research to be able to develop a promising strategy as early as possible: What will ultimately make you successful? What are relevant milestones you need to accomplish? What are structural boundaries or other hindrances? Who can support and promote you to become an academically independent and acknowledged senior researcher? What further aspects are important to keep an eye on?
The whole group will participates in module I of the workshop. Module II group coachings are going to take place in smaller subgroups at two following days. The trainer will send you a prework about 14 days before the workshop commences. With this guideline you can take a detailed look on your current portfolio of qualifications, skills, interests and values. During the workshop you get an overview about the various demands and options on the pathway to academic independence. During the group coaching units individual concerns based on your profiles and research contexts will be explored to identify the next concrete steps and strategies leading all the way up to the appointment process.
