Start up funding for postdoctoral researchers for proposal preparations
The university (without the Faculty of Medicine who has its own start-up-program) is providing start-up funding to young academics for the preparation and submission of research proposals for the last time. With this initiative, the university is encouraging postdoctoral researchers to remain in academia and pursue careers in research and science. Funding is intended for individual grant proposals (e.g. DFG research grants including temporary positions for principal investigators/the own position). Persons eligible are young academics with a doctoral degree (up to eight years after completing their doctoral thesis) who would like to submit their own grant proposal and are employed at the University of Goettingen for at least 6 months following the application deadline. The proposal should be at an advanced stage and forseeable ready for submission after the end of the start-up funding.
The maximum amount of start-up funding available is 10.000 Euro and is limited to a period of six months. It covers staff expenses (for student or research assistants) and direct costs. It is not available for financing one’s own position or covering expenses for basic equipment (such as PCs, office material, literature or telephone expenses).
The application for start-up funding should first of all make clear in what way the proposed research application would benefit from start-up funding, provide a description of how the proposed personnel and material costs will be allocated and include a brief outline of the research proposal (maximum 3 pages), Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages) and publications list. It should be signed by the applicant and the director of the home institute and send as one file to forschung@zvw.uni-goettingen.de by February 1st, 2017. The original of the application should be send via mail (address see below). The chances for dunding via this source are rather high. Please contact Dr. Doris von der Brelie-Lewien before hand in case of questions about the eligibility.
