GAUSS Career Impulse Session with Dr. Hendrik Urbanke (Evotec): “From Neuroscience to Biology 2.0 – what it’s like to transition from bench to server”, 8 Jul 2022, online

GAUSS-Career_Flyer_4seitig_09032018-1We’re happy to announce our last GAUSS Career Impulse Session before the summer break with Dr. Hendrik Urbanke (Evotec).

  • Date: Friday, 8 July 2022
  • Time: 14:00-15:30 (appr.)
  • Location: online via Zoom
  • Registration:To sign up please send an email to career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de.

About the speaker: Hendrik is an alumnus of the GGNB Systems Neuroscience PhD program. He performed his doctoral thesis in the German Center for neurodegenerative diseases in Prof. Andre Fischers’ group working on Epigenetic readers using transcriptomics. Before that, he did his MSc in Developmental Neural and Behavioral biology in Goettingen focusing on molecular Neuroscience.

After graduating in 2018 he continued his research as a post-doc until 2019. After a short exploration of the startup world, he made the transition to industry in the end of 2019 and joined Evotec where he started working on chronic kidney disease as a data scientist, thus made the transition from wet-lab to dry-lab. He is now leading the target identification efforts within the computational biology team of Evotec Goettingen, which is expanding. He is looking forward to sharing his experience on transitioning to a completely new field and method and answer any questions you may have around industrial research and alike.

About the sessions: Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
