Call for candidates: Election of the doctoral student council – Promovierendenvertretung (PromV) – term 2024

Elections for the doctoral student council (Promovierendenvertretung (PromV)) for the next one-year term of office (starting 01.04.2024) will take place soon (15.01.2024 till 23.01.2024).GOE_Logo_Quer_IPC_Farbe_RGB

The doctoral student council consists of 13 members, with one member to be elected per faculty.

These doctoral representatives are the ones of the faculties (taking part in the faculty council (Fakultätsrat)) that advise on questions concerning doctoral students and make recommendations to the university’s governing bodies. The doctoral representatives are therefore not to be equated with the student representatives of the individual doctoral programmes in GAUSS (but can be the same person indeed, which is favoured).

Proposals for candidates are required for the election.

Candidates should be able to speak fluently german, as all conversation in university bodies is german. Your nomination can only be submitted digitally to the Election Office until 22.11.2023, 03:00 pm (Ausschlussfrist) (area 81, room 2.123, in the Von-Siebold-Straße 2, 37075 Göttingen; ralf.buhre@zvw.unigoettingen.de).

Everything like the election announcement, can be found here [in German only] https://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/554935.html, including the necessary election proposal form and the declaration of consent.

The election

The election for the doctoral students’ representation in the winter semester 2023/2024 will be conducted as an internet-based online election (digital election) with the option of postal voting and will take place from 115.01.2024 till 23.01.2024.

All eligible voters will receive a separate information e-mail to their students e-mail address.

Information on the doctoral student council (PromV):

It advises on questions concerning doctoral students and makes recommendations to the university bodies. Previous doctoral student representatives of the respective faculties can be viewed under this link.  The doctoral representatives or the Spokesperson of the PromV and his or her representatives are available to answer questions about the rights and duties of the council.

Having a permanent contact person in the PromV is very important for every faculty in order to be able to incorporate your opinion as a doctoral student into decision-making processes and planning. Therefore, please consider whether you would like to introduce yourself to the office and be nominated as a candidate.
