An 80,000 word PhD thesis would take 9 hours to present. Their time limit… 3 minutes.Coimbra

Doctoral students from various disciplines (from all four graduate schools) will present their doctoral project in one slide (PPP) in English in just three minutes.

The competition will take place on 07 March at 5 p.m. in lecture hall 001 of the ZHG, Platz der Göttinger Sieben 5 (map).

The Three Minute Thesis competition is an internationally renowned competition held at numerous universities worldwide and was adopted by the Coimbra Group to which the University of Göttingen belongs.

The idea for the 3MT competition arose in Australia, when Queensland was facing a drought and everyone was requested to use less water – also when showering. A large part of the people thus used egg timers to shower for no more than 3 minutes. The Dean of the University of Queensland´s Graduate School then came up with the idea of the 3MT Competition – et voila, the egg was ready to be served!

Start: 07.03.2023, 5 pm – 6:30 pm
