Call for Slammers | Trilateral Science Slams in Göttingen & Tucson
The Fulbright Germany Team is hosting two Trilateral Science Slams this summer in cooperation with the Deutsch-Russisches Forum!
In Göttingen, Germany, Monday evening, 3 June 2019 during the Fulbright-Cottrell Junior Faculty Professional Development Workshop
In Tucson, Arizona, USA, Thursday evening, 11 July 2019 during the Cottrell Scholar Conference in cooperation with Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA)
Part of The Year of German-American Friendship
For each slam, they are looking for six young scientists – two each from Germany, Russia, and the United States – in the fields of chemistry, physics or astronomy (other STEM subjects also welcome) to share their passion for science with a broad and intercultural audience at two unconventional and enjoyable evening events.
What do you need? Original research results in your area of expertise. The courage and joy to share your passion for science with the general public. To take part in coaching sessions and rehearsals prior to the slams, you should be able to arrive in Göttingen on Friday, May 31 and remain until Tuesday, June 4 and/or arrive in Tucson on Monday, July 8 and remain until Friday, July 12. Applicants selected to participate in the slams will be provided round-trip travel (within Europe for Göttingen) to and accommodation in each city.
How do you benefit? Personal coaching on presentation skills with experienced science slam show producers; an audience for your own research and exposure to others’ cutting-edge science; and networking with colleagues from other scientific fields and countries.
