German-American Science Slam in Cologne, 18 May 2020
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Fulbright Germany is excited to be hosting its fourth Science Slam in Köln (Cologne) on May 18, 2020. Are you ready to dazzle an intercultural audience with your research? Then apply now!
For this enjoyable evening event, we are looking for six young researchers – three each from Germany and the United States – who are currently based in Germany. The application is open to all academic fields (humanities, social science, natural sciences, or applied sciences). We welcome your own research from all disciplines – from Anthropology to Zoology!
What is a German-American science slam?
It is a fun event with 10-minute presentations by young scientists in German or in English – on stage in front of a live audience. Slammers deliver an exciting and approachable version of otherwise complex research. And they compete for the hearts and minds of the audience, whose applause determines the winner!
What do you need? We are seeking for candidates with outgoing personalities who enjoy sharing their passion for science with the general public. To take part in coaching sessions and rehearsals, you should be able to arrive in Köln on Saturday, May 16 and stay until Tuesday, May 19, 2020.
How do you benefit? You will receive personal coaching on presentation skills with the experienced science slam show producers from policult, have an audience for your own research and exposure to others’ cutting-edge science as well as networking opportunities with German and American colleagues from other fields. We will provide round-trip travel (within Germany) and accommodation in Köln (May 16-19, 2020).
The Science Slam is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
