As a DFG Fellow he moved to Germany in 2007 to pursue doctoral research on synaptic proteins from Drosophila at the Biocenter, University of Würzburg. As a Max-Planck Fellow Partho joined the lab of Reinhard Jahn in 2012 to pursue postdoctoral research on endosomal membrane fusion. As staff scientist he went on to investigate molecular mimics in Legionella pneumophila.
In 2017 Partho joined CSL Behring as head of the Assay Development lab in the QC at Marburg. In 2019 he became head of the GMP lab for Water Analytics. In 2020 he moved to Research, to lead the bioanalytics & fermentation group. Besides leading the labs (Immunoassays, FACS & SPR), Partho focuses on lab automation, analytical data quality & therapeutic strategies for Sickle Cell Disease.
During this session Partho will try to give an overview of a biotech company and his personal experiences on transition from academia (the world of impact factors) to industry (the world of patents). He will try to give some insights on the various job profiles for natural science graduates in the life science industry. Partho likes mentoring natural scientists to help them take the ‘next step’ in their careers.
About the sessions: Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
