Open Science Festival 2022, 30-31 Aug 2022
#Meet #Share #Inspire #Care! We would like to invite you to a festival with a colorful mix of different formats on the topic of Open Science at the Welfenschloss!
Open Science thrives on scientific practices based on transparency, reproducibility, reusability and open communication. Freely accessible publications (Open Access) and research data are probably the best known elements of Open Science.
At the festival, we want to discuss the following topics in two panels:
- For scientific integrity and high quality research results, transparency and reproducibility are a non-plus ultra. For a long time, there has been criticism that the scientific recognition system does not sufficiently support open science practices.
- The discussion about data tracking in science points to the dangers of not sufficiently protecting scientific infrastructures from commercial interests.
#HandsOn!
In more than 11 hands-on workshops for active scientists, new Open Science relevant methods and tools can be learned and applied -> Transparency and Openness in Peer Review, Reproducibility Hackathon, Using Wikipedia for Science Communication, Open Refine, Open Access Escape Room, Wiki-edit-a-thon, Open Science in Energy Research, Open Research Knowledge Graph, Making Online Teaching Open (LiaScript). Detailed information on each workshop can be found here.
The festival offers a place to network with other scientists who are already working openly or want to start doing so, and enables exchange about open science practices in research and about current developments in Germany and Europe.
The Open Science Festival is a joint event of Leibniz Universität Hannover and TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology. Our Dutch neighbors serve as a model for the design of the festival: Thank you for the inspiration!
