24th EMBL PhD symposium, 7-9 Dec 2022
The 24th EMBL PhD Symposium – “The Spectra of Life: Dimensional Breadth in Biological Research” will take place on 7 – 9 December 2022 at EMBL Heidelberg. You can either join in person or online!
In this year’s symposium, the heterogeneity of life (sciences) spanning across different scales is highlighted. In four sessions (“Extremes in Biology“, “Scales of Complexity“, “Size Scales” and “Temporal Scales“), talks have been put together ranging from fast processes at the nano and microscopic scale to ecological networks and evolutionary forces. In this way the aim is to explore the breadth and interconnectedness of the biological sciences.
The exciting list of speakers includes: Clarice D. Aiello (UCLA Samuelie school of engineering, USA), Elizabeth Murchison (University of Cambridge, UK), Prisca Liberali (Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research, Switzerland), Ikram Blilou (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia), Edoardo Calizza (Sapienza Univesity, Italy), Paul Guichard (Université de Genève, Switzerland), Sandra Smit (Wageningen University, Netherlands), Vittorio Sebastiano (Stanford Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, USA), Jean Fan (Johns Hopkins University, USA), Saskia Brix (German Center for Marine Biodiversity Research, Germany), and more to be announced!
The organizers are looking forward to an active symposium which promotes scientific discussion and collaboration between researchers of different disciplines to increase each participant’s breadth in biological research!
Students are encouraged to participate in the form of a short talk or a poster by submitting an abstract.
